Is there anything better than Homemade Whipped Butter on fresh bread and sprinkled with flaky sea salt? Your not going to believe how easy it is to make one of your favorite restaurant treats. Just simply whip room temperature butter with some milk and then spread it on any breads, rolls, muffins, crackers or food. I hope you enjoy!

What Is Whipped Butter?

Whipped butter is just simply either salted or unsalted butter that has been whipped with a mixer to make it light, fluffy and easy to spread onto breads and other things. Often served at restaurants with a bread basket before a meal.

Make Homemade Whipped Butter

I always start by gathering all of the ingredients needed in a recipe and weighing and measuring everything before I start to cook or bake. This part is really important and key in keeping everything organized.

You can find the full printable version of this recipe at the bottom of this post.

To make this recipe you will need the following ingredients:

  • Butter (either salted or unsalted)
  • Milk (whole milk or other)
  • Salt (I add fine sea salt to the butter and then garnish with flaky sea salt)

Make sure the butter is at room temperature before whipping.

Whisk the butter for 1-2 minutes on low medium speed.

Add milk and salt. Whisk for additional 2-3 minutes on medium high speed until the butter is light and fluffy.

Garnish with flaky sea salt before serving.

Icelandic Black Lava Salt makes great (and delicious) garnish for whipped butter!

Store Homemade Whipped Butter

Store any leftovers of whipped butter in an airtight container or glass jar in the refrigerator for up to 1-2 weeks. Return to room temperature before serving.
